Photo Peach
I used Photo Peach for my first digital story tool. This was interesting. I chose the tool honestly because I liked the name. It was relatively easy to use and I know that now I played with it that I could get my students to use it as well. I think students would like it. It reminds me of a less visually stimulating Hakiu Deck. The music was a great plus!!
Pros:
Relatively easy to use. Choose pictures and drop them in.
I liked the ability to add music to the background.
Cons:
Directions are not very clear.
Difficult time with text and lining it up with the photos.

ToonDoo
ToonDoo is a comic program that I chose to depict my second digital story. I have never heard of this tool, but wanted to do a comic. This was somewhat difficult to work with and it was very time consuming. Uploading pictures, sizing pictures, resizing pictures and text was tedious. I finally figured out how to save the comic without losing it ( my biggest fear) and when I went to grab to share it looked like this!! It NEVER showed that box when I was creating or saving. It took too much time to redo so I left it as a learning experience to share with you. I don't even know what Win32 is!! I use a MAC!
Pros-
Comic style was interesting and fun. I loved using all the available clip art that they have on the site.
The layout choices were great as well.
Cons-
Lots of extra steps in sizing pictures and word boxes.
Wanted to change the text style and colors- very limited
Extremely glitchy with saving.

Mixbook
Mixbook is a great tool to use to create interactive stories. I chose this particular tool because I had not heard of it and was interested in using it after watching the demo. It reminded me a lot of Shutterfly with the creation of the book. I really enjoyed the easy layouts and how photos were put in. You even had a variety of backgrounds, font styles, colors and stamps. I also really liked the ability to share the story without purchasing it. I would use this with my students in creating a story for a variety of writing projects, and you COULD order it and have a copy for your class.
Pros-
Easy to use program even for students
Do not have to purchase creations to share them
Cons-
Background pages and stamps are limited and you cannot purchase additional ones like other sites.
You must make your book public in order to share it by embedding.
